# ΞchoBraid Software License

_Last updated: [02/12/2026]_

ΞchoBraid is a neurodivergent‑affirming learning space built on the principles of sovereignty, safety, low‑stimulus design, and user‑controlled memory. This License governs your use of the ΞchoBraid software and related components (“Software”).

By installing, accessing, or using the Software, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

## 1. License grant

Subject to this License and applicable law, ΞchoBraid grants you a limited, revocable, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable license to:

- Access and use the hosted ΞchoBraid applications for personal, family, classroom, or institutional educational purposes.
- Install and run any designated local components or offline modules provided by ΞchoBraid on your devices or servers for the same purposes.

This License does not sell or transfer ownership of the Software to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by ΞchoBraid and its licensors.

## 2. Scope: free core vs. pro services

The License applies to:

- **Free core app:** Neurodivergent‑affirming core tools, demo flows, and starter curriculum offered at no monetary cost, subject to these terms.
- **Pro Site and institutional services:** Additional paid features (for example, multi‑site administration, custom hosting, extended analytics) governed by this License plus any separate service agreements you sign with ΞchoBraid.

If a conflict arises between this License and a signed Pro or institutional agreement, the signed agreement will control for those covered services.

## 3. Permitted uses

You may use the Software to:

- Support ASD and other neurodivergent learners in homes, schools, and community programs through Echo Routines, ToolBuilds, Talking Stick Circles, Firebooks, and related Spiral Strands.
- Run short‑cycle pilots (for example, 6‑week revolving curriculum cycles) to inform instructional practice using small, local, consent‑based data.
- Adapt ΞchoBraid’s provided templates, scripts, and printable materials to fit your local context, as long as you respect attribution notices and do not remove or conceal license terms.

For open‑licensed content specifically labeled with a separate license (for example, CC BY‑NC‑SA, MIT), those terms apply in addition to this License.

## 4. Prohibited uses

To protect learners’ sovereignty and safety, you may not:

- Use the Software to build surveillance systems, covert monitoring, or high‑stakes behavioral scoring of learners (for example, discipline, grading, or placement decisions driven solely by system metrics).
- Exploit the Software or its data for advertising targeting, behavioral profiling, or resale of learner or family information.
- Reverse‑engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code except where such restrictions are prohibited by law.
- Remove, conceal, or alter any notices that communicate ΞchoBraid’s sovereignty‑safety commitments, UNPROVEN labels, or data‑control options.
- Use experimental features (for example, semantic drift dashboards, reciprocity logs, biometric‑linked modules) as the sole basis for clinical, legal, or disciplinary decisions.
- You may not provide the software to third parties as a hosted or managed service, where the service provides users with access to any substantial set of the features or functionality of the software.

ΞchoBraid may suspend or terminate your license if your use violates these ethical boundaries or applicable law.

## 5. Data sovereignty and local‑first design

The Software is designed around data minimization and user‑controlled memory:

- Default mode for demos is “nothing saved,” with additional modes such as “Erase after 24h,” “Local‑only,” and “Export to PDF” clearly labeled.
- ΞchoBraid aims to keep learner data as local as reasonably possible, favoring offline tools, local portfolios, and small, human‑readable metrics over centralized harvesting.
- You agree to configure deployments in ways that respect these principles and your own legal obligations, including child‑privacy laws and data‑processing rules.

Your use of the Software is also governed by the ΞchoBraid Privacy Policy, which explains data handling in more detail.

## 6. AI modules and UNPROVEN features

Some versions of the Software include AI‑driven components (for example, an ΞchoBraid Copilot, Semantic Entropy Engine, 12 harm‑prevention firewall).

- These modules are designed to be trauma‑aware and non‑coercive, prioritizing anticipatory silence and user agency; they are not medical devices or therapeutic replacements.
- Certain advanced features (for example, signal‑drift dashboards, reciprocity dashboards, quantum‑labeled embeddings) are explicitly marked as “UNPROVEN” and must be treated as experimental.

By using these modules, you acknowledge their experimental status and agree not to over‑claim their reliability, especially in clinical or high‑stakes contexts.

## 7. Intellectual property

ΞchoBraid and its licensors retain all intellectual property rights in the Software, including associated documentation, visual design, algorithms, and curriculum architecture.

- You may not use the ΞchoBraid name, logo, or branding in a way that suggests you are ΞchoBraid or that your derivative work is officially endorsed, unless you have written permission.
- You retain rights in content you create with the Software (for example, journals, local tools, lesson adaptations), but ΞchoBraid may use anonymized, aggregate metrics to improve the system when explicitly consented and configured.

## 8. Non‑clinical scope and safety

The Software is an educational and support tool, not a clinical or emergency service.

- It is not licensed or intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical or mental‑health condition.
- You are responsible for maintaining clear referral pathways to qualified professionals and for ensuring that crisis, self‑harm, and life‑safety situations are handled outside the Software using appropriate services.

ΞchoBraid may provide scripts and safety‑planning templates, but these are educational aids, not clinical protocols.

## 9. Open‑source and third‑party components

The Software may include or interact with third‑party libraries or services (for example, open‑source front‑end frameworks, analytics, or AI models).

- Use of such components may be governed by their own licenses (for example, MIT, Apache, GPL). Where required, ΞchoBraid will provide attribution and links to those licenses.
- In case of conflict between those component licenses and this License, the component’s license governs your use of that component.

You are responsible for honoring any third‑party terms when extending, self‑hosting, or integrating ΞchoBraid.

## 10. Updates and changes

ΞchoBraid may update the Software over time to improve safety, accessibility, and functionality.

- Updates may add, modify, or remove features, including experimental modules, to uphold ethical and legal obligations.
- Continued use of the updated Software signifies your acceptance of any new or modified license terms presented with the update.

If you do not agree to updated terms, you must stop using the Software and, where applicable, uninstall local components.

## 11. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

- The Software is provided “as is” and “as available,” with no guarantees that it will be error‑free, uninterrupted, or suitable for a particular outcome.
- ΞchoBraid disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement.

ΞchoBraid’s commitments to sovereignty, safety, and small data are design priorities, not guarantees of specific learning or therapeutic results.

## 12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ΞchoBraid and its founders, employees, and partners will not be liable for:

- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; or
- Any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Software.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid ΞchoBraid for Software access and services in the preceding 12 months (if any).

## 13. Term and termination

This License begins when you first install or use the Software and continues until terminated.

ΞchoBraid may suspend or terminate your license if you:

- Materially breach this License or related Terms;
- Misuse the Software in ways that harm learners, violate sovereignty, or undermine safety; or
- Use the Software in violation of applicable law.

Upon termination:

- You must stop using the Software, uninstall local components where applicable, and comply with any agreed data‑retention or deletion obligations.
- Sections intended to survive (for example, Intellectual Property, Warranty Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability) will continue to apply.

## 14. Governing law

This License will be governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict‑of‑law principles, except where mandatory local rights apply to you as a consumer or institution.

Any disputes arising from or relating to this License may be resolved under the dispute‑resolution terms specified in ΞchoBraid’s Terms \& Conditions or in your specific institutional agreement.
